Back to School Update for BPMS
The Buffalo Prairie Middle School staff would like to welcome all returning and new students to the building this year. We look forward to providing a fun, engaging, and challenging learning experience to ALL of our students. We expect students to come prepared every day and ready to learn. We anticipate having new interactive smart screens for teachers to utilize in all rooms this year. Along with teachers getting an upgrade, students will be getting an upgrade as well. All students will be getting new chromebooks this year. This is a scheduled upgrade by the district as our lease for the original chromebooks is over. These tools need to be used with care as your student will have the same chromebook year after year.
This year we are going to focus on instilling Bison Pride! Students and parents will notice expectations for behavior in all areas of our buildings. We want students to not only grow academically, but also socially and emotionally. You will notice some ongoing projects happening in our building such as decals in our hallways, expectation banners around the school, possible art work in our gymnasium, and an updated entry to BPMS. We also have in the works several fun assemblies that will focus on our students' growth in and out of school.
We also have some new and returning faces at BPMS. Colby Wimberly will be returning to BPMS as the new building principal. Mr. Wimberly taught and coached at BPMS for 9 years before serving as the assistant principal at Conway High School last year. Mr. Wimberly is very excited about returning to Dallas County Schools to serve the community that has given him so much. Also returning this year are former teacher Kali Howe to teach 6th grade science and Amber Austin (BHS graduate) to teach PE. New faces this year include Allie Ashlock (5th grade math), Jana Simpson (6th grade history), Sarah Roy (art), Colton Neill (8th grade history), and Jarvis Funk (PE teacher). All of our new and returning staff are very excited to see their students this year.
We look forward to seeing everyone at Open House this year. Please look for supply lists and if you have any questions please feel free to contact your child's teachers.
