Dallas County R-I School District Website Privacy Practices

The Dallas County R-I School District is committed to protecting the privacy of our students, families, and staff. These practices outline how we collect, use, and safeguard information on our official website in accordance with District policies and federal laws, including the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

Use of Personal Information

We do not collect any personal information unless you voluntarily provide it by sending us an email, participating in a survey, or completing an online form (such as enrollment or athletic registration). Personal information submitted will not be transferred to any non-affiliated third parties unless otherwise stated at the time of collection or required by law. When a user submits personally identifiable information, it is used only for the purpose stated at the time of collection.

Student Privacy and Consent (FERPA & PPRA)

In accordance with District Policy S-125-S, the District protects the confidentiality of student educational records.

  • Consent: Where consent for the use and disclosure of personal information is required, the school will seek consent from the parent/guardian or the "eligible student" (18 or older).
  • Directory Information: The District may disclose "Directory Information" (such as a student’s name, participation in activities, or honors) on the website or social media unless a parent/guardian has submitted a written "opt-out" request to the Registrar by September 1st of the current school year.
  • Surveys: Per Policy S-150-S, the District will not collect, disclose, or use personal information collected from students for the purpose of marketing or selling that information.

Technology Usage and Monitoring

While using District-provided portals or networks, users should be aware of Policy F-265-S:

  • No Expectation of Privacy: Students and staff have no expectation of privacy when using District-owned devices or the District’s network.
  • Monitoring: To comply with the Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA), the District monitors all online activity. Information sent via email is not guaranteed to be secure once it leaves the District’s server.

Usage of a cookie is in no way linked to any personally identifiable information while on our site. You may reject or delete cookies through your browser settings, though some website functions may become unavailable.
