Mr. Benjamin Potter was recognized as the Teacher of the Year. She has been teaching seven years, in the Dallas County School District. Mr. Potter teaches seventh grade math at Buffalo Prairie Middle School. She was nominated by a colleague who wrote: “He is a great example of an educational leader who cares about building relationships with kids.” Mr. Potter also received a plaque and gift card.
Nominations for employee and teacher of the year were taken in March through email, district website, Facebook, and Twitter. There were 8 staff nominations and 32 teacher nominations. After screening nominations with building administrators and department supervisors, two committees of community representatives interviewed one teacher from each building and one staff member from each department. The interview committee recommended the recipients.
