DCR1 Increase Substitute Teacher Pay
The Dallas County R-1 School District Board of Education voted to increase the pay for substitute teachers to $100 per day. The district raised the salary to be competitive with surrounding school districts and motivate individuals to pursue the job. The school district is in great need for substitute teachers. Qualifications include maintaining an active Missouri Teacher Certification or maintaining an active Missouri Substitute Teacher Certification, requested through the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). More information about substitute teacher certification can be found at their website https://dese.mo.gov/educator-quality/certification/substitute-teachers.  The substitute teacher must have a minimum of 60 college hours or be at least 21 years of age. If candidates don’t meet the 60 college hours qualification, they may complete the new DESE substitute teacher online training program. More information can be found at the link provided.
